Football tournament kicked off in Chitral

PESHAWAR, Sept 8: District Chitral Inter-Club Football Tournament under the aegis of Hasho Foundation got under way with a colourful opening ceremony held in the town hall Chitral on Saturday. 

Major Kazmi on behalf of Commandant Chitral Scout formally inaugurated the tournament by cutting a cake. The tournament, in which a total of 22 clubs are taking part, will be played on High School Chitral ground. Program Coordinator Hasho Foundation Chiltral ACO Mufta Uddin and a large number of club officials and players were present on this occasion.

Mufta Uddin said the aim and objective of the event was to involve the youth in healthy sports activities. He said like other games, Chitral is full of football talent. He said Rasool Khan, a mid-fielder of the national team, is also hailing from Chitral and many other players are now part of various leading departmental teams.

He appealed to Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah to announce construction of a sports complex in Chitral so that the youth of the biggest district of the KP could be facilitated with better playing facilities.–APP
