Five persons still languishing in jail over SMS

DROSH, Aug 11:  Five persons from Drosh are languishing in jail for the last over one week for forwarding a cell phone message criticizing the top administration official of the district. Local people complained to chitraltoday.net that the district coordination officer (DCO) had made it difficult for them to get the imprisoned persons released on bail. They said the SMS had been forwarded to about 400 people in the area after which the five persons were arrested and sent to jail. Talking to chitraltoday.net, the local people said that the action against the five people was illegal and unjustified and the government official had misused his authority. They asked the government to take action against the responsible and release the arrested persons without any further delay. The DCO could not be contacted for his version on the issue.  ]]>
