MNA says army is to construct Boroghil road on his request
CHITRAL, July 22: MNA Shahzada Mohiuddin has thanked Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani for his initiative to start work on the Mastuj-Boroghil road which was the longstanding demand of the people in the border area along the Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan. Addressing a press conference here, he said he had sent written requests to the President of Pakistan for the road reconstruction and also requested the COAS to look into it as it was important strategically. He said taking a prompt action of his request, the army started mobilization of its machinery to Mastuj and work on the road would commence shortly once the water level was lowered in the Yarkhun river. The lawmaker said that he feel excited and filled with joy with the news of the commencement of work on the road because he cherished it since long but no government in the past paid heed to it. He said with construction of the road the valley of Boroghil would be connected to other parts of Chitral for the first time while at present it was a three-day journey from Boroghil to reach Brep village to catch a vehicle. He said tourism will also flourish in the area with the completion of the road while millions of tons of minerals will also be exploited and it will help reduce abject poverty in the area. Mr Mohiuddin added that the road will connect Chitral with Central Asian republics through Tajikistan.–Zahiruddin]]>
