Border police strengthened to cope with infiltrations

CHITRAL, June 11: DCO Rahmatullah Wazir has said the long and porous border of Chitral district with Afghanistan has rendered it vulnerable to the intrusion of militants and to cope with this situation, the border police are being strengthened both in terms of men and material as well as training. Addressing the passing-out parade of the force in Drosh on Monday, he said during the last a couple of years a number of efforts had been made to enable it to effectively contain the infiltration. He enumerated the major steps for the rejuvenation of the force which included raising its strength, change of the old training module on modern lines, provision of necessary resources to the force, inclusion of fortified pickets along the border and giving better service structure. Mr Wazir, who is also the commandant of the force by virtue of his office, claimed that the force was now in a position to repulse any attempt of infiltration and keep a strict vigilance on the borders of Chitral. He said the strengthening of the force on solid footings have filled the local people with the strong sense of security and peace.
