Power houses at nine sites planned

CHITRAL, May 31: The ongoing energy crisis will be resolved very soon, declared Badshah (king) Salih, who is an PMA and chairman of the standing committee on energy and power, while chairing a meeting at Governor Cottage here.  The meeting was attended by Imtiaz Shagai, Aurangzeb Khan, Saleem Khan, Anwar Khan, Ghulam Mohammad (MPA), members of the standing committee as well as the district coordination officer Rahmatullah Wazir. Additional secretary energy and power Zahid Akhtar Sabri while briefing the participants said SHYDO will launch hydropower houses at nine sites.  SHYDO has completed a survey its feasibility report will be submitted to the provincial government. These hydropower projects are Gahriat Swir Lasht, 340 MW; Koragh Pariet, 223 MW; Shushghai, 140 MW; Laspur Miragram 133 MW, Shogosin 132 MW, Mojigram Shoghore 52MW, Istaru Booni 52 MW and Arkari Gol 24 Megawatt.  The DCO said Chitral had rich potential of water where more than 15,000 megawatts power can be generated. Zahid Akhtar added that consultants have been appointed for carrying out feasibility study of these sites which will be constructed under the public-private partnership basis. Later, the committee members visited Sheshi powerhouse and site for Lawai hydro project of 69 Megawatt. They also visited Reshun power house and recommended for its upgradation which at present generates 4.2 megawatts and Sheshi power house 1.875 megawatts.—GH Farooqui]]>
