CHITRAL: The Lowari Tunnel has been reopened to all types of traffic following timely efforts by Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Rao Hashim Azim and effective coordination with the relevant officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA), said a statement issued by the DC office today.
It said that the tunnel has been restored for normal traffic, providing relief to commuters and travelers using the route.
During the discussions, it was also decided that the tunnel’s operating hours, traffic management arrangements and relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will henceforth be finalized through mutual consultation between the district administration and the NHA.
The move is aimed at preventing unnecessary inconvenience to the public and ensuring smooth and effective traffic flow through the tunnel.
The district administration appreciated the cooperation of the public and reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing public convenience, safe travel and efficient traffic management.
