Booni, June 30: The Directorate of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department organized a training workshop on sustainable beekeeping and ecosystem management in Morder.
As many as 10 local participants attended the workshop, where they received practical training on modern beekeeping techniques.
At the conclusion of the program, participants were provided with beekeeping toolkits to help them apply their newly acquired skills and improve their livelihoods.
Addressing the participants, Assistant Director NTFP Chitral Ijaz Ahmad highlighted the vital role of honeybees in maintaining ecological balance, conserving biodiversity, and increasing agricultural productivity.
He noted that Upper Chitral’s rich natural flora and diverse vegetation provide ideal conditions for producing high-quality honey.
He added that adopting modern beekeeping practices can significantly increase honey production while creating sustainable income and employment opportunities for local communities.
Participants appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that similar welfare and livelihood development programs would continue in the future.
