Chitral, June 24, 2026: A Virtual Court Point has been formally inaugurated in Drosh by District and Sessions Judge Lower Chitral, Shehnaz Hameed Khattak.

The initiative has been described as a significant and revolutionary development in the local judicial system.

With this facility, the people of Chitral, local lawyers, and district courts have been virtually connected to the Peshawar High Court and the Darul Qaza Swat, enabling remote court proceedings through modern digital systems.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, District and Sessions Judge Shehnaz Khattak stated that the new facility would save citizens and lawyers from long, difficult, and costly travel to Peshawar, Swat, or the Circuit Bench Lower Chitral for court hearings.

She said the initiative would not only significantly reduce time and expenses for litigants and lawyers but also ensure timely and accessible justice for people in remote areas at their doorstep.

The district and sessions judge expressed gratitude to the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court, Registrar Peshawar High Court, Registrar Darul Qaza Swat, and the IT director for their support in completing the project.

She added that the continuous technical guidance of the Peshawar High Court made this milestone possible. She reaffirmed that the district judiciary of Lower Chitral will continue its efforts to strengthen timely and efficient delivery of justice through the effective use of modern technology in the future.

Virtual court systems seem pretty interesting. I wonder how they handle technical issues during hearings.
