Islamabad, March 13, 2026: More than six weeks after a violent attack on a Chitrali youth in the heart of Islamabad, the capital police have failed to trace the assailant.
The incident occurred on January 30, 2026, when Alamgir Khan, son of Aziz Nawaz Khan of Chapali, Upper Chitral, currently living in Islamabad, was shot by an unknown person while returning home from a market in Sector G-9, Islamabad.
Alamgir sustained a gunshot wound to his lower back and was immediately taken to PIMS for treatment where he underwear a surgery and remained hospitalized for over two weeks.
Following the attack, Aurangzeb Khan, brother of the victim, lodged a formal FIR at Karachi Company Police Station. In the complaint, he stated that the unknown assailant fired at him and his brothers near Punjab Cash & Carry, G-9, Islamabad. Alamgir Khan was hit in the lower back and fell at the scene while the attacker fled immediately.
The police registered an FIR under section 324 of Pakistan Penal Code (Attempt to commit qatl-i-amd, attempted murder) and collected evidence, including a CCTV camera footage. However, despite the presence of eyewitnesses, police have not yet identified or apprehended the suspect.
The family members of the victim while talking to ChitralToday expressed frustration over the lack of progress on the case and police inaction, stating that they fear for Alamgir’s safety. They demanded the police authorities to take swift action and trace and arrest the culprit.
Local human rights activists also criticized the Islamabad police, urging them to enhance investigative measures and ensure that justice is delivered to victims of violent crime.

Pakistan receives international funding for security, but if the capital cannot deliver justice, what does this funding mean? International communities must ask question from the government.
It’s quite big negligence on the part of the Islamabad Police that a gentleman was attacked by assailant on 30th January, 2026 but so far the culprit has not been to the justice.If such incidents are not investigated and probed timely, then such incidents will become order of the day.
Delay in justice is tantamount to denial to justice.

This was an unpleasant incident in our life .

Nobody takes Chitrali people seriously because they are too shareef and have no leaders to speak for.
Utter failure on the part of the capital police. If this incident had happened to someone influential, this shameless police would have traced the criminal in just hours. As a community, we should come together to speak against this incident to avoid any such in the future.
This is shocking and alarming. Recently a man entered to a Chitrali house in Islamabad, brutally murdered poor Sana Yousaf and left. Police later arrested the culprit but the case is still unresolved. Now Alamgeer, our brother was shot in the “safe city” and he luckily survived the bullet. More than a month and still no clue about who was the man that opened fire? Raising a serious question on the police performance.
This is highly deplorable to see that the police in the federal capital of Pakistan is uanble to solve such a simple case, The police is either highly incompetent and inept unprofessional or they are hand in glove with the culprit.
If not caught and punished the culprit may become a source of further danger for other people ass well and there should be no leniency for such criminals who have targeted an innocent youth.

No one appears to be safe in the capital of the country. Islamabad is the city that hosts diplomatic missions, government institutions. Also the nation’s leadership is expected to guarantee the security of its citizens. Yet a serious crime in G-9 Markaz, the very heart of the capital and an area fully covered by security cameras, remains unresolved.
If such incidents can occur in the most monitored commercial center of the capital, what message does this send to ordinary citizens? The continued failure to identify and arrest the perpetrators raises serious questions about the effectiveness and accountability of law enforcement. Citizens deserve protection and justice.
The authorities must act immediately. The criminals must be brought to justice without delay so that public confidence in the rule of law can be restored.
