Booni, Dec 22, 2025: The Upper Chitral Police have claimed that its professional investigation and effective prosecution led to securing life imprisonment and fines against a man who had murdered his brother on September 30, 2022.
“Under the supervision of District Police Officer Upper Chitral Hamidullah, and SP Investigation Ajmal Khan, the skilled investigation team of Upper Chitral Police conducted tireless efforts, meticulous investigation, and close coordination with the prosecution, bringing the case to its logical conclusion,” said the police.
The court on Monday convicted Syed Nizar Shah, son of Syed Bulan Shah, resident of Chuinj, under Section 302(b) PPC for the murder of his brother Syed Sardar Ali Shah.
The court awarded the convict life imprisonment and also ordered him to pay Rs2 million as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.
Additionally, the court sentenced the convict to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs50,000 under Section 15 of the Arms Act.
The case was registered at Police Station Mastuj on September 30, 2022, against the man on charges of murdering his brother. The police completed all legal formalities and presented solid evidence before the court, resulting in justice for the affected family, said the police.
It may be noted that after killing his brother, the man had just walked off and remained scot-free for two years in the same area.
Earlier, during the Shandur polo festival, he had blocked the road in Chuinj and extorted money from travellers openly, but no action was taken against him.
At last, he was arrested on September 2, 2024, from the area.
