Booni, Dec 20, 2025: The four-day anti-polio vaccination campaign in Upper Chitral concluded successfully, achieving 96 percent of its overall target, officials here have claimed.
The progress was shared during a review meeting held on the catch-up day under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Muhammad Anwar. The meeting was also attended by Dr Shabana Wali of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other concerned officials.
Briefing the meeting, Dr Wali said 96pc of the targeted children were vaccinated during the campaign across the district. She added that no refusal cases were reported, reflecting strong community cooperation.
The additional DC lauded the efforts of frontline health workers and thanked all line departments for their support in ensuring the campaign’s success. He expressed confidence that sustained efforts would help Upper Chitral retain its status as a polio-free district.
