CDA Finalizes Land For AKUH In Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Oct 27, 2025: The allotment of land for the establishment of the Aga Khan University (AKU) teaching hospital in Islamabad has entered its final stage, sources told ChitralToday.

The Karachi-based AKU is set to establish a state-of-the-art teaching hospital in the federal capital. On August 27 of this year, the CDA Board approved the allotment of land for the AKUH; however, the precise location of the land remained undecided at that time.

The approval was made under the Islamabad Land Disposal Regulations, following a formal request from AKU for this vital healthcare project. According to sources, several meetings were held between the two parties after the CDA Board’s approval. Initially, the CDA proposed a 40-kanal plot in the I-12 sector of Islamabad. However, AKU was not satisfied with the proposed location, citing concerns over the site’s accessibility and its suitability for a project of such importance.

Sources further told ChitralToday that, after considering AKU’s concerns, the CDA has now decided to allocate land for the hospital near the National Institute of Health (NIH), situated in Shehzad Town, Islamabad. This new location is expected to resolve the accessibility issues and better align with the university’s vision for the project.

This development is anticipated to significantly strengthen healthcare services in Islamabad. It will also enhance medical education, clinical training, and research at Aga Khan University, benefiting patients, especially those from northern Pakistan. Furthermore, it will support the broader medical community and foster the development of future healthcare professionals in the region.
