Rumbur Villages Without Power as Hydel Plant Hit by Technical Faults

Chitral, June 23, 2026: An online Zoom meeting chaired by the Chairman of the SP-KVDA Board was held to review issues related to the Rumbur Micro Hydel Power House.

The meeting was attended by board member Syed Harir Shah, the director technical, sub-engineer, local stakeholders, and representatives associated with the operation of the power house.

Participants discussed the technical faults that have affected the micro hydel power house in Rumbur Valley, resulting in power outages in nearly three villages for the past 10 to 15 days.

The director general of SP-KVDA briefed the participants on the difficulties faced by the local population due to the prolonged power suspension and outlined the steps taken so far to resolve the issue. The technical team also highlighted the nature of the faults and possible solutions.

The chairman emphasized the need to improve the performance of the powerhouse through timely repairs, regular operation and maintenance, and preventive measures to avoid such issues in the future.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was reiterated that all possible steps would be taken on a priority basis to restore electricity in the affected areas and provide relief to the residents at the earliest.

The participants said that the micro hydel power house is a valuable community asset and requires active cooperation from the local population.

It was agreed that responsible usage, timely maintenance, and protection of equipment would be essential to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the future.
