CHITRAL: A Spanish national, Gervasio Negrete Franco, hunted a non-exportable markhor in the Mulen Gol, a buffer zone of Chitral Gol National Park.
This marks the first-ever non-exportable hunt in this zone, contributing to conservation and community development, said the Wildlife Division Chitral on Wednesday.
\”The hunt was outfitted by Arcqos Safari/ M. K. Safari and conducted in the presence of Rizwan Ullah Yousufzai (DFO, Chitral Gol National Park), Salim Uddin (Chairman CGCDCA), and Shafiq Ahmad (Range Officer, Wildlife).\”
Revenue generated from this hunt will support wildlife conservation efforts and fund local development projects.
The buffer zone hunting program is designed to ensure sustainable hunting while benefiting conservation and local livelihoods.
This successful hunt underscores the effectiveness of the community-based conservation model, where regulated hunting helps protect endangered species like the Markhor while incentivizing local communities to preserve wildlife habitats, it added.
