Robbers kill Chitrali man in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A young man from Kosht in Upper Chitral was shot dead by armed men at his home in Nasirbagh area of Peshawar last night.

A large number of people belonging to Chitral held a protest by blocking road at Board Bazar against the killing. They were chanting slogans against the administration and police for their failure to provide protection to the Chitralis.

\"ChitraliThey said that armed persons barged into the house of Abdul Salam, son of Gulab Khan, at Chitral Colony and were stealing solar panels and other items when he challenged them. As a result, the criminals shot him dead and escaped.

Salam was father of three children and worked at Peshawar Saddar, they said. They said despite being informed about the murder, police failed to turn up at the site to launch an investigation and arrest the culprits.

However, police said that an FIR has been registered on the complaint of a cousin of the deceased and evidence collected from the house. The dead body was shifted to hospital for postmortem.

Police and administration officials assured the protesters that the culprits would be arrested soon.
