PESHAWAR: Over 1,500 religious seminaries have been found unregistered in Khyber Pakthunkhwa, a report said on Tuesday.
According to a document, there are 6,482 religious seminaries in the province out of which 5,362 are registered with Fifaqul Madaris Al-Arabia and the remaining with other boards.
It said Mardan has 602 madrassas, the highest number among the districts, with 180 of them not registered.
There are 702,000 local and 6,596 foreign students in these seminaries of the province.
The number of foreign teachers in these seminaries is 322 and that of local teachers is 3,2842.
Under the law, religious schools should be registered and their managements should also disclose their sources on income.
