ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued a formal order authorising the deployment of Pakistan Army troops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to assist the civil administration in maintaning peace.
According to a handout, the deployment has been approved under Article 245 of the Constitution for the period covered by the proclamation issued under Articles 232 and 234 on October 11.
The order states that the army will support the civil administration in maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of residents and public infrastructure.
Under the directive, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi will determine the number of troops and resources to be deployed in consultation with the Military Operations Directorate at General Headquarters (GHQ).
The order authorising the deployment will also be published in Part II of the Gazette of Pakistan, the report added.
