Federal Govt Forms 11-Member Advisory Council for KP

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has formed an 11-member advisory council to assist in managing provincial affairs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the issuance of a new federal order.

The government issued Federal Order No. 1/2026 in accordance with the constitutional proclamation issued on October 11. Under the order, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi will perform provincial government functions on behalf of the federal government.

The governor will be assisted by the newly-established advisory council, which comprises the following members: Tariq Mahmood Pasha, Dr Amir Abdullah, retired Lieutenant General Nigar Johar, Samar Bilour, Dr Sarfaraz Ali, Amir Javed, Dr M. Irshad, Kifayatullah, Tayyab Qureshi, Usman Saifullah Khan and Asif Rafiq.

Sanaullah Advocate has been appointed Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the report.

The order states that provincial government affairs will be conducted in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Rules of Business, 1985, while remaining consistent with the federal directive.

The federal government’s order took effect immediately, the report added.
