New GB Chief Minister to Take Oath on July 1

GILGIT: Amjad Hussain Advocate of the PPP will be sworn in as the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on July 1 at a ceremony to be held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Gilgit.

According to official sources, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony. Invitations for the event have already been issued.

Amjad Hussain was elected unopposed as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on June 22 after being nominated by the Pakistan Peoples Party and its allies in the regional assembly.

The oath-taking ceremony will formally mark the beginning of the new provincial government’s tenure following the recent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
