Chitral, May 15, 2026: The pre-Shandur Polo Tournament 2026 has commenced in Lower Chitral with a grand and colourful opening ceremony, attracting large crowds of spectators and tourists from across the country and abroad.
A total of 63 teams from Upper and Lower Chitral are participating in the tournament, showcasing thrilling performances in the traditional game of polo.
The opening matches drew loud applause from the audience as players displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship on the field.
Addressing the ceremony, officials reaffirmed their commitment to making the event successful and highlighted the importance of cultural and sporting activities in promoting the region’s positive image and tourism potential.
They said that polo, as Chitral’s traditional sport, reflects the area’s rich culture, brotherhood, and longstanding traditions.
