Booni, May 12, 2026: A technical team from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) visited Upper Chitral on the special directives of the prime minister to assess the performance of Early Warning System (EWS) and Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).
During the visit, the team met Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran Khan at his office and conducted an inspection of the Automatic Weather Station located near the DC office in Booni.
The technical team reviewed all installed equipment and sensors, including those measuring temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, solar radiation (net radiometer), and rainfall.
Officials confirmed that the system is fully operational, with satisfactory performance in terms of data recording, communication, and overall functionality.
The PMD team also visited other Early Warning System installations in the district to evaluate their technical performance and operational standards.
