No clue to abducted Rescue 1122 officials in Tank

Tank, May 8, 2026: More than 24 hours after the abduction of three officials of Rescue 1122, law enforcement agencies have yet to find any clue to their whereabouts in Tank District, officials said on Friday.

The three personnel — Waqar Alam, Mudassar and Iftikhar — were kidnapped by unidentified armed men near Safdar village on Thursday evening after the attackers set up a roadside blockade and intercepted their vehicle.

Police sources said search operations were continuing in different areas, but so far no leads have been found regarding the abductors or the location of the missing officials.

Security has been heightened in and around the area, while checkpoints have been set up on key routes to monitor movement. However, officials admitted that progress in the case has remained limited.

Deputy Commissioner Tanveer Ahmad said efforts were ongoing and all available resources were being utilised to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted staff.

The incident has caused concern among local residents, particularly as emergency service personnel were targeted. Rescue 1122 plays a vital role in providing timely assistance during emergencies.

It may be recalled that incidents of abduction have been reported from different parts of the province in recent weeks, including the kidnapping of labourers in the Tirah Valley.
