Booni, Upper Chitral, April 3, 2026: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) activists in Upper Chitral held a protest at Booni Chowk after Friday prayers today, voicing strong opposition to the exorbitant surge in fuel prices.

The protesters said the steep rise in fuel costs had sparked a fresh wave of inflation, pushing transportation and essential commodity prices to alarming levels. They warned that this situation is creating severe hardship for the poor and middle-class families already struggling with economic pressures.

Ashfaq Ahmed, General Secretary of JI Upper Chitral, along with other party leaders, urged the government to take immediate steps to control fuel prices and relieve the public from inflationary burdens.

They cautioned that if authorities fail to act, the protests could escalate further.

It may be noted that the federal government jacked up fuel prices from less than Rs300 to over Rs500 in the last a few weeks on the pretext of the US war against Iran.
