Islamabad, March 30, 2026: In a historic move, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially resumed its Islamabad–London route with flight PK-785.
The inaugural flight was flagged off yesterday in a ceremony attended by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott and PIA officials.
The resumption of this key international route marks a significant milestone for PIA, reconnecting Pakistan with the United Kingdom and offering passengers renewed opportunities for travel, trade, and cultural exchange.
Officials said that the flight not only enhances air connectivity but also reinforces the longstanding diplomatic and economic relationship between the two nations.
PIA spokespersons expressed pride in returning to one of its most important international destinations, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to safe, reliable, and customer-focused service.
Flight PK-785 is expected to operate regularly, providing travelers with a direct and convenient link between Islamabad and London, and symbolizing PIA’s broader efforts to revitalize its international network.
It may be mentioned here thatPIA’s direct flights to London had been suspended for nearly six years following safety‑related regulatory bans imposed in 2020.
Aviation authorities in the European Union and the United Kingdom halted PIA’s operations to European destinations amid safety concerns, including issues raised after a domestic crash and subsequent scrutiny of pilot licensing.
This resulted in the suspension of the airline’s London services, leaving Pakistan without direct flights on one of its most important long‑haul routes until recent improvements in aviation oversight and the lifting of restrictions allowed PIA to seek reinstatement of its UK services.
