Chitral, March 30, 2026: Police in Lower Chitral have arrested a suspected drug dealer and recovered 53 grams of ice (crystal meth) during a targeted operation in Chitral city.
The action was carried out on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Riffatullah Khan (PSP) as part of an ongoing crackdown against narcotics.
The suspect has been identified as Ijaz Ali, son of Muhammad Wali and a resident of Gahtek Denin.
Police said the recovered substance was ice, a highly addictive form of methamphetamine, which has seen rising use in parts of the region.
It may be mentioned here that despite such arrests, concerns are growing over the increasing spread of drug peddling and addiction across Chitral. Locals say that while small-scale dealers are occasionally caught, law enforcement has so far struggled to dismantle the larger networks responsible for supplying drugs into the district.
