Rawalpindi, March 21, 2026: A youth from Upper Chitral was shot dead at a market on Chakri Road in Rawalpindi on Friday night.
The victim, identified as Faheem, 22, son of Sahibgar Shah (late) and a resident of Dizg (Upper Chitral), was reportedly shot dead at around 8:30 PM following an altercation with a shopkeeper.
Sources told ChitraToday that Faheem had handed over his mobile phone to a repair shop on Chakri Road a few days earlier. When he visited the shop on Friday to follow up on the repair, a heated argument broke out between him and the shopkeeper. The situation escalated into a violent confrontation during which the shopkeeper allegedly opened fire.
Faheem sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died on the spot.
After being alerted, police reached the scene, collected evidence and shifted the body to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad. However, the police are yet to arrest the suspect(s) involved.
The incident has sent shockwaves among the Chitrali community in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. About six months ago, another youth from Chitral, Alamgir Nawaz, was shot and injured in G-9, Islamabad. His attacker is yet to be arrested.
Last year, Chitrali social media star Sana Yousaf was shot dead by a lone gunman inside her home in G-13 sector of Islamabad.
