Peshawar, March 18, 2026: Intermittent rainfall and snowfall over the past week have brought a return of cold weather across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the province’s upper districts.
In Peshawar city and surrounding areas, rainfall has continued since morning, increasing the chill in the air. Upper regions of Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Swat, Shangla, and other mountainous districts have experienced ongoing snowfall, with Upper Chitral largely covered in snow.
The Meteorological Department forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy skies for most districts, while temperatures are expected to remain low in higher-altitude areas. Thunderstorms and snowfall are likely in Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Malakand, Buner, Swat, Shangla, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Batagram, and Torghar.
Other districts, including Haripur, Bajaur, Mohmand, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Bannu, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, and Orakzai, may also see rain and snowfall in mountainous areas. Sporadic heavy rain and hail are possible in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and North and South Waziristan.
Recent rainfall recordings include 4 mm in Chitral, 13 mm in Kalam, 8 mm in Dir, and 34 mm in Parachinar, contributing to a gradual drop in temperatures across the province.
