Villages Cut Off as Yukum Bridge in Yarkhun Collapses

Yarkhun, March 17, 2026: A vital bridge in front of Yukum village connecting Ukum and scores of other villages on the left side of the Yarkhun river collapsed this morning.

The collapse of the bridge caused serious disruption for local residents. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM when a Mazda vehicle, carrying cement and fodder, attempted to cross the bridge. The vehicle, en route from Brep to Miragram Number 2, was driven by Irshad. The heavy load contributed to the bridge’s collapse, and the vehicle fell into a deep ravine.
Fortunately, both occupants of the vehicle survived, and no casualties have been reported.
This bridge served as the only practical route connecting approximately nine villages from Yukum to Diuser, allowing the transport of food, daily necessities, and other essential supplies. Its collapse has left residents isolated and facing significant difficulties, with no immediate alternative routes available.

Local residents called upon the authorities concerned to take immediate action. They emphasized the need for either the rapid reconstruction of the bridge or the establishment of a temporary alternative route to restore access and provide relief to affected residents.
