Minority Member Urges Posting of Doctors in Kalash Valleys

Chitral, March 16, 2026: Anat Baig, minority member of the Tehsil Council Chitral Lower, has urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to immediately post doctors in the basic health centers of the Kalash Valleys to ensure timely medical services for both the local population and visiting tourists.

Speaking to media, Baig said that the Kalash Valleys are among Pakistan’s most beautiful and significant tourist destinations, attracting large numbers of domestic and international visitors each year.

However, he expressed concern that currently, these health centers lack doctors, causing serious difficulties for the local residents.
He pointed out that the Kalash Valleys are located at a considerable distance from Chitral city, and poor road conditions make transportation challenging. This situation severely hampers the timely transfer of patients to Chitral in emergency cases.

Baig appealed to the government to prioritize the posting of doctors in the Kalash Valleys’ health centers, adding that this step is crucial not only for the well-being of local residents but also for providing prompt and quality medical care to tourists visiting the region.
