Chitral, Feb 12, 2026: A leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) was rescued from Broze Village in Lower Chitral, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Chitral, Feb 12, 2026: A leopard cub (Prionailurus bengalensis) was rescued from Broze Village in Lower Chitral after local residents safely captured the animal and handed it over to officials of the Wildlife Department.
According to the Wildlife Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the wild cat was shifted to the Veterinary Hospital in Denin, where a thorough medical examination was conducted. Veterinary experts administered necessary treatment and medication to ensure the animal’s recovery.
Officials said the leopard cub is currently under observation and is responding well to treatment. After full recovery, it will be released back into its natural habitat on the advice of veterinary specialists.
The rescue and treatment process was carried out in coordination with the Wildlife Department and the Forestry, Environment & Wildlife Department.
Authorities appreciated the timely action of local residents and urged the public to report any wild animals entering populated areas to the concerned department to ensure both human safety and wildlife conservation.
