Gen Asim Munir meets tribal elders in Peshawar, Oct 30, 2025.

COAS Vows to Tackle Cross-Border Terrorism

Peshawar, Oct 30, 2025: Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday made it clear that Pakistan seeks peaceful relations with all its neighbors, including Afghanistan, but will not tolerate cross-border terrorism originating from Afghan soil.

His remarks, delivered during a session with tribal elders here, underscored the country’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and maintain security in the face of growing threats.

Gen Munir acknowledged Pakistan’s patience in addressing cross-border terrorism over the past few years, despite the continued challenges posed by militant groups operating from Afghanistan. He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic efforts to strengthen ties with Kabul, but expressed disappointment over the Afghan Taliban regime’s failure to take effective action against India-sponsored terrorist groups such as Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan.

In a direct message to the tribal elders, the Army Chief reassured them of Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other border areas. He praised the steadfast support of the tribal communities, especially during recent confrontations with the Afghan Taliban, and paid tribute to their sacrifices in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

The tribal elders, in turn, voiced their full backing for Pakistan’s military in its fight against terrorism and condemned the extremist ideologies propagated by the Afghan Taliban. They expressed solidarity with the national cause and reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability.

Field Marshal Munir also received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation, the operational preparedness of Pakistani forces, and ongoing counterterrorism efforts along the Pak-Afghan border. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Commander of Peshawar Corps.

This visit underscores Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to securing its borders and eliminating terrorist threats, while reinforcing its desire for peaceful and stable relations with Afghanistan.
