BOONI, Oct 8, 2025: The Upper Chitral Contractors Association has strongly rejected allegations of embezzlement concerning emergency road repair works carried out during last year’s severe snowfall and subsequent floods, emphasizing that authorities have not released any funds for these projects to date.
At a press conference held at the Upper Chitral Press Club, Association President Amirullah, joined by other local contractors, stated that over 18 months have passed since the work began, yet contractors have not received a single rupee. He criticized individuals who spread misleading information on social media, calling the allegations of corruption and embezzlement entirely baseless and detached from reality.
Amirullah explained that in March 2024, contractors cleared and repaired roads to ensure that ballot papers reached polling stations, all under the close supervision of district authorities. In April, when snowfall intensified, the provincial government declared an emergency, and the Commissioner of Malakand Division personally visited Buni to order the immediate restoration of all affected roads.
Although authorities prepared PC-1 proposals for these works, the lack of released funds prevented the completion of the remaining tasks.
He added that contractors have completed approximately 20–25% of the restoration and repair work, and they will carry out the remaining 70–75% once the government releases the funds.
Amirullah urged the public to verify information before sharing it online, emphasizing that contractors performed all tasks in full compliance with government directives under official supervision, and that the social media allegations have no basis in fact.
