BOONI – As part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Public Agenda initiative, the district administration of Upper Chitral organized a Peace Jirga today at the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Hall to encourage communal harmony, religious tolerance, and social unity.
Deputy Commissioner Haseeb Ur Rehman Khan Khail chaired the event, which drew participation from the District Police Officer, heads of government departments, religious scholars, academics, elected representatives, and civil society members from across the district.
The administration launched this initiative to reinforce peace and stability, promote respect among different sects, monitor the movement of non-local individuals, and preserve the district’s strong tradition of unity and brotherhood.
In his address, DC Haseeb Ur Rehman highlighted Upper Chitral’s legacy of peaceful coexistence and called on all stakeholders to actively support law and order. He commended local religious leaders and preachers for their vital role in maintaining peace and pledged continued administrative support for their efforts.
Other speakers echoed his message and encouraged communities to engage in interfaith dialogue, show mutual respect, and stay vigilant to safeguard harmony.Participants reaffirmed their commitment to uphold Chitral’s long-standing values of unity, respect, and cooperation across all sects.
