Lower Chitral – July 25, 2025: In a tragic incident, the body of a young woman who committed suicide by jumping into Chitral river from Chew Bridge was recovered on Friday at Orghoch Lasht by Rescue 1122 with support from Lower Chitral Police and local residents.
The deceased was identified as Zainat, daughter of Abdul Hussain, originally from Mulkhow and currently residing in Singoor. Her body was transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Lower Chitral for legal formalities.
According to Rescue 1122, the control room received an emergency call in the early hours about the incident. Rescue 1122 in a statement however said the girl fell into the river by accident.
Diving and medical teams were immediately dispatched to the site to conduct the search and recovery operation.
