Chitral-Mastuj road temporarily reopened near Reshun

BOONI: The Chitral-Mastuj road that was blocked at the river-eroded narrow patch near Reshun was temporarily reopened for light traffic on Monday afternoon, the district administration of Upper Chitral said.

The road had been severely affected by erosion from the Yarkhun River at Shader, causing a freight truck to become stranded in the middle of the road.

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Haseebur Rehman Khan Khalil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Anwar along with the District Planning Officer and others visited the site. With the assistance of Rescue 1122’s recovery machinery, the truck was towed out and the road cleared and made passable for light vehicles.

The additional deputy commissioner has instructed National Highway Authority (NHA) officials to mobilize their machinery at the earliest to level and fully restore the road for all traffic.

People were advised to avoid unnecessary travel until the road is completely restored.
