Killer of Sana Yousaf remanded for four days

ISLAMABAD: A court in the federal capital on Monday  approved a four-day physical remand of the alleged killer of Chitrali social media influencer Sana Yousaf.  

The police presented the alleged killer, Omar Hayat, in the court of judicial magistrate Muhammad Hafeez.  During the hearing of the case, Adnan Ali, Raja Naveed Kiyani and Mazhar Bashir represented the prosecution and informed the court that the mother and an aunt of the deceased had identified the killer during an identification parade.

The judge asked the suspect if he had hired any lawyer. In reply, he said he did not know anything about it and pleaded for a meeting with his family. He also requested the judge for his medical checkup.

On the request of the investigation officer, the court granted physical remand of the suspect for four days and handed him over to the police.

The court ordered the investigation officer for a medical check-up of the suspect and submission of a report. The police were ordered to produce him in court on June 20.

Sana Yousaf was shot dead by the suspect in her G-13 residence in Islamabad on June 2, 2025. The alleged killer was arrested the next day in Faisalabad and brought back to Islamabad.

On June 4, he was sent on judicial remand to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi for an identification parade. The identification parade was held in the jail on June 13 during which Sana\’s mother and a paternal aunt identified the killer.
