ISLAMABAD: In a deeply tragic incident, a female student from Upper Chitral, who had gained popularity as a rising TikTok star, was shot dead by an armed man at her residence in the G-13 sector of Islamabad on Monday afternoon. Heartbreakingly, the incident occurred on her birthday.
Sources told ChitralToday that Sana, 18, daughter of Syed Yousuf Hassan of Chuinj village, was inside her house along with her aunt when an unidentified masked young man entered at about 4pm, fired two shots at her chest from point blank, before escaping along with her mobile phone.
The father, an employee of NTC (National Telecom Corporation) in Islamabad, had gone to submit admission fee of Sana to BScN program at a private medical college while her mother had gone to a nearby market at that moment while the younger brother of the victim was in Chitral.
After hearing gunshots and screaming of Sana\’s aunt, neighbors rushed to the house and shifted her to KRL Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The dead body was then taken to PIMS where a postmortem was conducted.
Her funeral was offered at the Ismaili graveyard at H-8 sector after midnight in the presence of a large number of people and the body was taken to her native village at about 2am on Tuesday.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of the girl\’s mother and launched an investigation. CCTV footage have been obtained from the street of the house for tracing the murderer. The motive behind the gruesome crime is not yet clear.
The deceased had passed her FSc exam and was taking admission to graduation in nursing. She was also a popular social media user with quite a large followers on TikTok and Instagram.
The incident has shocked Chitralis living in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. They have demanded that the culprit be arrested without delay and brought to justice.
