CHITRAL: Representatives of Bumburet, Rumbur and Birir have declared May 30 as the final deadline to expel the Kalash Valleys Development Authority (KVDA) from the region, claiming overwhelming public support.

In a counter-press conference to the earlier one in which VC chairmen and others expressed support for KVDA, Kalash valleys leaders stated that they had already demonstrated their strength during a meeting on May 24 and were prepared to show it again on May 30.

\”We will prove on May 30 that we have the support of 80% of the people of the Kalash valleys,\” they asserted.

The community figures including VC Vice Chairman of Birir Rahmat Ali Shah, Sarwat Shah from Rumbur, elder Ahmed from Bumburet, former Nazim Khurshid Ahmed, social activists Qudratullah and Abdullah, former Zakat Chairman Sher Mohammad, former councillor Nazar and others accused KVDA of attempting to coerce or lure locals, including some board members and authority employee, into supporting the authority\’s activities, which they described as contrary to the will of the people.

They emphasized that the decision to demand the KVDA’s departure is a collective public mandate, not an individual or political move.

The representatives demanded that all KVDA offices and personnel be removed from the Kalash valleys by May 30.
