CHITRAL: Community leaders, mostly local government chairman, from the Kalash valleys of Bumburet, Rumbur, and Birir on Wednesday expressed strong support for the initiatives of the Kalash Valleys Development Authority (KVDA).
At a press conference here, they stated that the authority, established by the provincial government, is actively working for the welfare and development of the underprivileged Kalash regions.
VC Chairman Bumburet Khalilur Rehman, VC Chairman Rumbur Sultan, VC Chairman Birir Faraz, VC Chairman Jinjiret Koh Aftab Ahmad, KVDA Board Member Abdul Majeed Qureshi, Minority Council Member Anat Baig and elders Barzangi and Turab Khan were present on the occasion.
The leaders emphasized that apart from a few individuals with vested interests, the majority of the local population is satisfied with the authority’s performance. They invited those who have reservations about the authority’s functions or the taxation system to sit down and discuss their concerns face-to-face.
\”We are ready to jointly approach the government to address any genuine issues,\” they said, adding that baseless allegations and negative propaganda without evidence could severely damage the collective interests of the Kalash valleys.
\”The responsibility for such harm will lie with those who oppose the welfare initiatives of the authority without just cause,\” they warned.
The press conference highlighted a unified stance from Kalash representatives in favor of continued development and cooperation for the region’s betterment.
