Schools, mosques to create awareness about dengue
CHITRAL (April 23, 2025): Education and Auqaf departments have been directed to launch awareness campaigns to check the spread of dengue in Lower Chitral.
The direction was issued on behalf of Deputy Commissioner Mohsin Iqbal at a meeting here, said the DC office in a statement.
The Education Department was told to take the lead, focusing on sensitizing students during morning assemblies to help them understand and prevent the spread of dengue.
Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Muhammad Zia chaired the meeting held to review the implementation of the Dengue Action Plan 2025.
Dr. Salim Saifullah, a medical entomologist from PHC, along with representatives from various departments, attended the meeting. Officials discussed their responsibilities and agreed to take coordinated steps to fight dengue.
The Auqaf Department will raise public awareness through mosques, especially during Friday sermons, while the Tehsil Municipal Administrations will maintain cleanliness and provide staff for anti-dengue efforts.
Heads of government departments will ensure their buildings remain free of mosquito breeding grounds.
The assistant commissioner stressed the need for joint action from all departments and encouraged community involvement to successfully prevent the spread of dengue.
Authorities continue to urge residents to eliminate stagnant water and report any potential breeding sites to local officials.
