Inquiry finds no obscene videos at Malakand University

MALAKAND: The inquiry into the alleged harassment incident reported at the University of Malakand in February has been completed, with the investigation dismissing sensational claims made on social media.

According to sources, the inquiry committee submitted its findings to the provincial government, confirming that disciplinary action had been taken against the professor involved in the harassment case.

However, no obscene videos of female students were found on the professor’s mobile phone, and the viral claim regarding the existence of 4,000 inappropriate videos had been declared baseless.

“There is no evidence of any gang operating within the university involved in filming immoral content of female students or faculty,” the report stated.

Earlier, a professor was arrested and suspended by the university administration after a female student accused him of harassment. The incident sparked widespread outrage online, further fueled by unverified claims and unrelated social media posts.

Sources close to the inquiry told ChitralToday that certain elements intentionally spread misleading information to tarnish the university’s reputation.

The inquiry committee has recommended that harassment committees in universities be made more effective to address grievances promptly. It also suggested that the university administration seek assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to identify and take legal action against those who propagated false allegations.

Additionally, the committee emphasized the importance of maintaining professional boundaries between students and teachers and called for awareness seminars on harassment to be held in educational institutions.
