CHITRAL: Research-driven solutions to climate change issues of Chitral were recommended at a stakeholder workshop here on Thursday.
The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan (AKAH-P), in collaboration with the BRAVE project, organized the stakeholder consultation workshop to address the impacts of climate change and assess scientific modeling for environmental planning.
Representatives from the Forest Department, Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP), Chitral Gol National Park, and the Wildlife Department participated in the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Programme Manager Wali Muhammad Khan highlighted the importance of protecting the natural environment, stating that every individual and institution must contribute within their capacity. “A human-friendly environment is a collective need, and government departments, private organizations, and local communities must work together to achieve it,” he said.
Prof. Hafeezullah delivered a detailed presentation on the effects of climate change on Chitral’s forests and wildlife, emphasizing the need for research-driven solutions. Officials from the participating departments took part in group discussions and shared their views and suggestions for protecting the region’s fragile ecosystem.
