PESHAWAR: A meeting held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Faisal Khan Tarakai with heads of all educational boards of the province reviewed the preparations for Secondary School Certificate (Class 9 and 10) annual examinations.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Education Masood Ahmad, Special Secretaries Qaiser Alam and Khuda Bakhsh, Additional Secretaries, chairmen of all boards and other officials.
The exams across the province are set to begin on April 8 (Tuesday). The education minister was informed that 475,807 students will appear in the Class 9 and 444,404 will take the class 10 exams. A total of 3,634 examination centers have been established across the province with 25,810 supervisory staff deployed.
All board chairmen briefed the meeting on their respective preparations, stating that arrangements had been finalized, including seating furniture for students, washroom facilities, electricity and water supply, duty rosters for invigilators, stationery supplies, formation of inspection teams, paper distribution logistics, and other essential matters.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Tarakai emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against cheating and the use of unfair means during the exams. He instructed that students should be given confidence during exams and inspection teams should avoid causing unnecessary stress or disturbance.
The minister also directed the EMIS (Education Management Information System) Cell to coordinate with all boards and establish a centralized CCTV monitoring cell at the departmental level.
Secretary Masood Ahmad instructed the head of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boards Chairmen Committee (KPBCC) to set up a control room at the board level. Similarly, the additional secretary (general) of the Education Department was directed to establish a similar cell at the department level for centralized monitoring of examinations. He stressed that students should not be subjected to mental stress or confusion due to unnecessary inspections.
