PESHAWAR: Another Chitrali man was murdered in Peshawar on Sunday, local police and relatives of the victim  said.

Nasir Ahmad, son of Gul Ahmad from Lower Chitral’s Drosh tehsil, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Pushtakhara area of Peshawar on Sunday.

Saeed Ullah from the Tehreek Tahfooz Hoqooq Chitral said Nasir Ahmad had come to Peshawar for medical treatment and was staying at his sister’s house in Pushtakhara. The attack is believed to be the result of an ongoing enmity between his sister’s relatives and another family.

Halima Bibi, whose son, Zulqarnain was also killed in the incident, told the police that she along with her son and some relatives, Israr, Jawadul Haq and Abdur Rehman and a guest from Chitral, Naseer, had gone to attend funeral of one of their relatives.

She said that when they were returning and reached Canal Road their rivals started firing at their vehicle, which resulted in the death of Zulqarnain, Israr and Nasir Ahmed.

Two passersby also received bullet wounds and succumbed to their injuries. They were identified as Ijaz and Raj Wali.

The complainant identified the attackers as Islamullah, his son Saboor, Hidayatullah and Noor Ilahi, residents of Sufaid Dehri area.

The body of the deceased was shifted to his hometown after a postmortem.

Civil rights activists and the Chitrali community have strongly condemned the incident, calling for a thorough investigation and the swift arrest of those responsible.

This incident follows the murder of another Chitrali youth, Imran Chitrali, by motorcyclists in Peshawar a year ago. Another young man was killed at his house in the Chitral Colony in Peshawar about a moth ago.

Such attacks have raised concerns about the safety of Chitrali residents, who often visit Peshawar for education, healthcare, and other needs.

Community leaders have called upon the authorities to ensure proper security for marginalized groups, particularly those from Chitral.

These heinous attacks on Chitrali people should be stopped. A myriad number of Chitrali people live in Peshawar, mainly students, and their lives are at stake. Moreover, the assassination of Chitrali people is not new; it has been happening in Peshawar for ages, and no government official takes strict action against them. Additionally, the Pathan people are the most illiterate and intolerant people to have ever existed on the planet earth.
