GARAM CHASHMA: All stakeholders have joined a wheel-jam strike launched by Injigan Drivers Union in Garam Chashma against poor construction of the main road to the valley.
The strike started three days ago against the substandard work on the Garam Chashma road that is still not worthy of travel despite government claim of spending millions of rupees.
On the protest of the local people, the district administration of Lower Chitral through the National Highway Authority promised to repair the nullahs, protection walls and bridges on the road from December 19, but the residents said for years the authorities had hoodwinked the locals with false promises.
The protesting people said that they would continue the strike till the authorities started work on the repair of the road as promised.
Because of the wheel-jam strike, commuters remained stranded and students and patients were hardly hit.
Local people said that the government departments concerned should fulfill the genuine demand of repairing the road to facilitate the travellers and avoid any mishap.
