Protest held against ‘illegal’ appointment by health dept

PESHAWAR: Damil Welfare Society of Lower Chitral staged a protest outside the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday against an alleged injustice by the Health Department.
The protest was led by the society’s patron-in-chief Asmatullah, former councilor Gul Wali, Khayal Muhammad, Sharoz Khan and other members.
The protesters alleged that individuals from other areas like Drosh and Arandu had been recruited to a Class IV post in the local dispensary of Damil even though these positions were rightfully reserved for local residents.
They stated that despite submitting multiple requests to the District Health Officer (DHO) of Lower Chitral, the rightful candidate – the landowner of the dispensary – was ignored.
According to the protesters, an inquiry committee was formed by the DHO, which visited the site and ruled in favor of Khayal Muhammad, the rightful landowner. Despite this ruling, a candidate from another area was appointed, disregarding the committee’s decision.
The protesters called on the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and senior officials of the Health Department to cancel the unjust appointment and ensure that the rightful local candidate is given the position.
