Islamia College senior alumni body takes oath

PESHAWAR: The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Senior Alumni Association of Islamia College Peshawar was held on Saturday, marking the beginning of the 2024-25 term. The event saw the election of new office-bearers and a reaffirmation of their commitment to the institution’s growth and excellence.

New office-bearers

Vice Chancellor Islamia College Peshawar Professor Dr Ali Muhammad Khan administered oath to the following new office-bearers: President: Muhammad Zaman Khan (Baba-e-Islamia College), General Secretary Fayaz Khan, Vice President Ilyas Khan, Finance Secretary Professor Shaheen Shah and Information Secretary Arbab Azhar.

The executive committee now includes Jandad Khan Safi, Fazli Qadeem, Prof. Mujeeb, Aurangzeb Khalil, Saeed Khan, Prof. Dr. Inayat Khan, Arbab Rafaqat, and Abdul Malik Khan.

In his address, the newly-elected President Muhammad Zaman Khan expressed his gratitude and commitment.

“We are here to serve Islamia College. Today, I feel immensely proud and honored to have been elected as President with your invaluable support. Together, we will work hand in hand to uplift this esteemed institution.”

He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among alumni to foster the continued growth and legacy of the college.

General Secretary Fayaz Khan described the occasion as a moment of pride and joy, noting that this was a great meeting. He praised Muhammad Zaman Khan’s dedication. This man does not care about his health but is always concerned about Islamia College. The alumni are united today solely because of his efforts.

He expressed the hope that the new cabinet and members would continue to work collectively for the betterment of the college.

Vice Chancellor Islamia College Peshawar Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Khan congratulated the new office-bearers and particularly lauded Muhammad Zaman Khan’s pivotal role in the alumni association.

He said Muhammad Zaman Khan had played a crucial role in keeping the Islamia College Alumni Association active. He acknowledged the financial and operational challenges faced by the college, including securing funds from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for solarization and employee salaries.

Dr. Ali Muhammad emphasized the vital role of alumni as key stakeholders. “The college regularly seeks input from alumni and values their suggestions. Consultations with competent alumni help resolve various issues.

The AGM underscored a collective resolve to address the challenges facing Islamia College and to enhance its legacy. The active involvement of the alumni, coupled with the leadership of the newly elected cabinet, promises a future of continued excellence and unity for the institution.
