Alumni body intervenes to resolve Islamia College disputes

PESHAWAR: The Senior Alumni Association of Islamia College University intervened to resolve ongoing disputes between student groups and the administration leading to protests.

A meeting, convened by the Senior Alumni Islamia College executive body, brought together student union representatives, Baba-e-Islamia College President Mohammad Zaman Khan Muhammad Zai and elders of the Khalil Student Organization.

Zaman Khan said Islamia College college is historical asset, and we are duty-bound to protect it. He called upon the senior alumni to support the administration and students in this endeavor.

He stated that the meeting aimed to find an amicable solution to the disputes, emphasizing patience, negotiations, and protection of the institution’s legacy.

Khalil Student Organisation representatives pledged support to Islamia College.

Waqas Khan, representative of the Khalil Student Organisation, said, “We love Islamia College and are committed to its advancement. We will ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on campus. We respectfully request our esteemed teachers and administration to resolve pending issues, both academic and administrative, to facilitate students and smooth growth of college.”

He said we should prioritize Islamia College’s progress over personal interests. We seek collaboration, not conflict.

Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Vice Chancellor of Islamia College, told this correspondent, “We will not prolong the protests. Our focus is academic improvement. I urge students to refrain from creating panic and instead work towards a peaceful resolution.”

Emphasizing his commitment, Professor Khan added, “Our mission is to facilitate students, teachers, and employees. Protests and unrest divert our attention from core objectives. We have open door policy. I invite students, teachers and alumni to collaborate, ensuring Islamia College’s progress.”
