13 cops martyred in attacks on polio teams this year

PESHAWAR: There have been 15 attacks on polio teams in Khyber Pakthunkhwa so far this year in which 13 policemen were martyred, according to a report.

On the other hand, Pakistan seems drifting further away from achieving the goal of being a polio-free country as five cases have emerged this year.

According to the report, 36 policemen guarding polio teams during immunization drives were also injured in the attacks till May 31, 2024.

The report compiled by the Counter-Terrorism Department said that four attacks on polio teams were carried out in Bannu, three each in Bajaur and Tank and one attack each in Khyber, Lakki Marwat, Mardan North and South Wazirstan.
