Stranded foreign tourist rescued by Chitral police

CHITRAL: A tourist from Switzerland was rescued by the Lower Chitral police after he got stranded in the mountainous area while trekking to Rumbur from Orghoch village, the police said in a statement.

It said Amadeo lost contact with the police during rain when he was at a height of 6,650 feet. The police immediately activated the foreigner registration and the district security branch staff and dispatched them to the area.

The police staff succeeded in reaching to the tourist after passing through the dangerous track in rain at 2am. The tourist had taken shelter in a room made for goats. He was then taken back to Chitral.

District Police Officer Iftikhar Shah appreciated the efforts of the officials in safely rescuing the foreign tourist and announced to give them commendation certificates.

Last month, the police also rescued a female tourist from Japan after she got stranded near Dubash due landsliding while returning to Chitral town from Bumburate.
